Best Hair Curling Irons

Today, there is a wide range of curling irons available for women, and there are two types. You need to know which type works best for you.
There is the standard clamp-style, which uses a spring to open the clamp and hold your hair in place. It is the best for spiral curls (in small sizes) or for big curls (barrel size 1”+). I personally use the spring BaBylss Pro Ceramic Spring Curling Iron (1.5”) since my hair is so long. It produces those larger, looser curls that seem to be the rage these days.
Next is the “wand-style.” It basically looks like a wand: a thick base that narrows to a small tip. These are great for producing waves, but you’ll want to use a glove to prevent a burn (I’d also recommend beginners to wear a long sleeve shirt, because you will burn yourself at least once figuring this out). I use the Remington Tstudio Salon Collection: Pearl Digital Ceramic Curling Wand in 1.5”. I hold it in my right hand, have the glove on my left hand, and wrap the hair (mid-strand) from the thickest to the thinnest on the wand, and hold in place with the gloved hand. If you keep the wand horizontal to your face, you’ll get the “wave” effect rather than a spiral.
Remember: when you curl you hair, switch directions for every chunk of hair. If you don’t, the curls tend to clump together!
