How to: Spring Hairstyles

It’s April, and I’m sure you know the saying: April showers brings May flowers. It’s been raining off and on here in California, and I for one keep wondering what to do with my hair in this inconsistent weather.

First off, I do tend to straighten my hair daily, thanks to my Keratin treatment. I also make sure to use John Frieda’s Weather Works. While it used to be found in stores like Rite Aid, I have discovered they no longer carry the product in stores (which means we have to order online—wonderful). But Weather Works tends to block out the humidity and moisture from my hair, keeping it silky and smooth all day long.

If you don’t have Weather Works and want to freshen up your hair for Spring, here are some everyday tips.

Bangs During Spring

My bangs hate the spring. They like to disobey me as soon as I step out of the house. If I know it’s going to be one of those days, I use bobby pins and do a little “poof” in the front. Other suggestions: take your bangs and side-sweep them into your hair. Secure with a bobby pin or cute barrette. Voila! Some people are even adept enough to French braid their bangs into their hair, making a sort of “headband.” I can’t do this without help, but you possibly could. An easy way to get bangs out of your face can also be a headband or scarf, or to use gel to blow dry the bangs into your natural hair line. Either way, there are options; play with it and have fun.

Quick Up-Do

Besides our already posted “How to Make a Cute Ponytail,” you can also use some basic clips to get a quick look. If your hair is short, twist hair up and secure with a claw clip. I always pull some strands forward to frame my face. If your hair is long, like mine, I put it in a low pony tail and then use a claw clip, so that it will more likely stay in place all day.

Side Braid

We already told you How to do a Fishtail Braid, which is an elaborate way to get a cute braid. Do it low and to the side for a fun look. Or do a regular braid down to the side for a really quick style. Options: add a cute barrette or flower to the design, or even take a ribbon and braid it into your hair. The simple touches add a lot of flavor.
