Fall/Winter 2009 Nail Polish Fashion

7 September 2009 by Allison | | 2 Comments

Alright, I have a problem. It seems that I have an addiction to something. It can be a million colors and I can never have enough of it. Do you know what it is?

Metallic Nails are Edgy Yet Chic

It’s nail polish.

I hate the smell of nail polish remover, but I love painting my nails. I probably do it twice a week, either my toes or my fingertips. It’s always a way to express yourself, and isn’t something that jobs exactly rule out. You can always do so much with it, too – French tips, solids, stripes, decals, and I’m sure things that have no possible name.

So, like clothes, we need to keep up on the trends and fashions of nail polish. It isn’t faux pas, exactly, but some shades just should carry over from winter to summer, and vice versa. So we have the scoop on the nail color trends for the Fall/Winter 2009 season.

Metallics
It’s like a flashback from the 80s. From silver to a shiny black, metallic is becoming one of the hottest trends. It’s became a fad with celebrities and runway models already. Shades like gold, graphite, bonze and chrome are the hottest selections. Even though they are so vibrant, they work perfectly with almost any fall outfit, because they are versatile. You can match them with a metallic scarf, handbag, or heels for a perfect outfit for work or a night on the town.

Mattes
Nail polish colors in flat mattes are beautiful for fall and winter. The best part is that you can still use metallic shades with a special topcoat which makes any shade appear matte! If you actually want to use a matte nail color, the best options are navy blue, grays, and matte white. Navy blue adds the drama, grays reflect the runway fashions, and white turns the look into a retro 90s style.

Overall, the Fall/Winter 2009 nail polish trends call for elegant yet edgy appeal. This calls for matte and metallic for the perfect combo of edgy, chic, and modern all in one. Remember, you can always add your own twist with things like decals (but few is less) or a thin French tip of any color you want.

You can find any nail polish you want at Ulta.
