House MD Season 6 2-Hour Premiere
Tomorrow, September 21, is the event I’ve been waiting for: The House MD Premiere! (8PM on Fox)

The Cast of House MD
I started watching House MD back in February of 2009. I watched endless hours until I was caught up, then watched all of season 5 before summer hit. For me, the cynical main character Gregory House (Hugh Laurie, Street Kings, Sense and Sensibility, Man in the Iron Mask) is probably the cutest older man I’ve ever seen (right up there with George Clooney and Bruce Willis: Nummy). Plus, his character is your total anti-hero:
a protaganist whose character or goals are antithetical to traditional heroism. An antihero may be bewildered, ineffectual, deluded, or merely pathetic. Most of the time however, they are just an amoral misfit. – Wikipedia.
For me, this is the “bad guy” with a “good” heart in the end, although mildly selfish and a little self-serving. This fits Gregory House to a T.
The other characters are just as entertaining for me. Dr. Allison Cameron, played be Jennifer Morrison (100 Women, Star Trek, Urban Legends), is the typical heroic character, always looking to do good deeds and tricking House into them. At the end of Season 5, she was married to Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer, Uptown Girls, Flourish), the one who used to suck-up to House in season 1, the “good boy” who fits perfectly with Dr. Cameron. He works in surgery and Cameron works in the ER, both by choice after 3 years on House’s diagnostic team.

Gregory House (Hugh Laurie)
The only character from Season 1 besides House who is still on the team is Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps, Scream 2, Dracula 2000, ER). The only doctor becoming more and more like House, he tried to leave, but returned in Season 4 to be a “supervisor” for House on the team. He is dating one of the new doctors, Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley (gorgeous Olivia Wilde, Turistas, Year One, Alpha Dog). Named Thirteen from the very comical way House searched for new teammates, she has Huntington’s Disease. In Season 5, she underwent drug trials with Foreman to test a new Huntington’s prescription, but was given a placebo (sugar pill).
We started season 5 with Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn, White Castle) but lost him half-way through when Penn became the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement in the Barack Obama administration – they had his character commit suicide, throwing Season 5 into a depressing chaotic mess – actually, Season 5 was the hardest emotionally. I’ll say why later.

Also, there is Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson, Transformers, Domino, Royal Pains), who used to be a plastic surgeon. After an affair with a nurse, he signed a contract to never practice plastic surgery again, and left for House’s diagnostic team. In Season 5, he told his wife, and ended up buying her a car – it did seem like she would stay with him.
Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein, What Women Want, Daddy Day Care, Felicity is House’s boss as the Dean of Medicine at Plainsboro Hospital. She and House have a very obvious attraction to each other, full of insults and clever arguments and “low cut blouses”. In Season 5, House thought they finally indulged in their attraction, but it ended up being a part of House’s psychotic brain – he was seeing dead people, and imagined the whole scenario, possibly related to his Vicodin addiction.

Gregory House has a Vicodin Addiction
Dr. Jason Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard, Much Ado About Nothing, Dead Poets Society) is House’s best friend. He is an oncology doctor (cancer), and is often the voice of wisdom in the TV show, and the only one who can reason with House. Often, House has spurts of insight and solves cases while talking to his friend. In Season 4’s finale, his girlfriend Amber died in a bus accident. She is the dead girl that House is seeing in season 5. She leads House into giving Dr. Chase an allergic reaction, and that is when he realized he had a problem, but it climaxed with the aforementioned Cuddy/House imagined encounter. He had Wilson check him into a mental institute, which is where the Season 6 House Premiere takes place.
Just so you know, the Season 6 Premiere is a 2 hour event. So make some popcorn, set up your DVR, and enjoy a roller coaster of a ride as House takes on the mental institute and all his problems.
