How to Brighten Your Eye Color

No, we don’t mean how to literally change your eye color; but certain eyeshadows with the right application can enhance the color. Here’s how.
First, know what different colors are in your eyes. The odds are you aren’t just brown: you have gold; you aren’t just blue: you have gray or yellow; or, if you’re like me, you aren’t just “hazel,” but you have a mix of green, yellow, blue, and brown.
Here’s how eye color works, but it is super complicated: multiple pieces from different parts of your chromosomes encrypt three different types of genes that affect the color variation. One codes for green/blue, another for brown, and the last for brown/blue. Green, though, is actually the result of yellow pigment interacting with the blue pigment in your eyes (like watercolors) which is why “green-eyed” people are usually called hazel. I, for one, have green eyes; there is a little blue, but it’s mostly a green with yellow flecks, not really any brown. The yellow is a faded version of brown.
What I’m getting to, though, is that eyeshadow colors need to play off the color you want to enhance in your iris.
Do you want to increase the green? Go for a plum-based eyeshadow, warm browns, khaki, dark green, gold, or bright purple. All of these colors are reflected off of by light to increase that gorgeous green hue.
Want to increase the blue in your eyes? Find colors like taupe, dark blue, black, silver, fuchsia, or even purple; the darker, the better for blue eyes, since blue eyes are very pale by nature.
Lastly, do you want to increase the brown in your eyes? Warm earth hues, like copper, champagne, beige, khaki green, tangerine, and brown are your best bets.
Use one of these colors in a tinted eyeliner to bring the entire look to a close. Hopefully, your beautiful eye colors stand out even more after applying these tricks!
