How To Clear Your Acne

22 October 2009 by Allison | | No Comment

Ever since I was a young teenage girl, I’ve had a major problem with acne. It’s not an all-over thing, mostly just my T-Zone, but it seems like I have tried every acne product out there – prescriptions, detox, washes, microdermabrasion – I’ve spent hundreds.

Despite things like Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, ProActiv, SkinID, and even Acutane, I have scars and always a pimple or five. If I’m lucky, one week out of the month my skin will be clear, but those scars will still be there. I was searching the internet for my next miracle cure, and stumbled across hundreds of acne product scams. Be wary of these out there: try to find a product that works for you. If there was some magical cure, it would be all over the news. Oil-Free Continuous Control Acne Wash

Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide are the two main ingredients in washes, toners, and face lotions. Sulfur is also a rising ingredient, but that actually has the opposite expected affect on my skin. Benzoyl Peroxide can bleach your eyebrows, towels, and clothes, so be careful. Salicylic Acid is a great spot-treatment ingredient, found in most lotions and facial gels, but can have the awful result of drying out your skin so that the area starts to peel. I have yet to find the perfect product. I discovered that a Tea Tree oil or Neosporin can help keep your skin from drying out too much, but use only on the infected spot.

Make sure you wash your face every morning and night – the nighttime is the most important, so if your skin gets too sensitive to the product, skip the morning. Your face collects dirt and oil throughout the day, clogging pores, and when you sleep your skin rejuvenates cell growth and ends up causing pimples unless you wash thoroughly. After using the cleanser, make sure all of the product is off – if you aren’t sure, use a toner, which will pick up any left over residue. Pat face dry with a clean towel, and then use a face lotion/acne lotion. For daytime use, make sure you incorporate some form of sunscreen – many foundations now include spf15 into their formula, since acne products make you sensitive to the sun. For makeup, use a line like Premium Minerals, which has absolutely no harsh chemicals like arsenic and bismuth chloride which are in 99% of other mineral makeups.Acne Stress Control Triple-Action Toner

If you’re face gets oily during the day or if you sweat on your face, use an acne medicated pad to cleanse your skin part-way through your I do it during my lunch hour. Let it dry, reapply makeup, and you’ll notice how clear your face looks after work or school.

Things like detox pills can help your acne considerably. Toxins build up in your body, even if you eat incredibly healthy. Try a two week or one-month light detox and you’ll notice not just a clearer complexion but a slight weightloss as well. Just don’t go overboard – a little goes a long way. For example, instead of taking 8 pills twice a day for a week, I took 4 over two weeks, two in the morning and two at night. I still noticed improvements, but it didn’t hinder my lifestyle.
