How to: Valentine’s Day Makeup!

Valentine’s Day is almost here! We know you want to look your best, so we put together our favorite beauty tips for the romantic holiday.
First off, many women choose lipstick for Valentine’s Day—if you can pull it off, go for it, but make sure you choose a long-lasting color, since you’ll (hopefully) be smooching it up. Also, don’t wear too much eye-makeup if you wear lipstick, because this looks heavy and overdone.
To put on lipstick for the best results, start in the shower. I run my toothbrush bristles to exfoliate my lips. The skin is very, very sensitive, so be gentle! Once I get out, I immediately lather on some chapstick until I’m ready to apply lipstick.
Wipe off any chapstick and use a similar shade of lip-liner. Keep the line close to your natural lips as possible—do not go out! That looks tacky, and you know it. Now, with gentle “dabbing” motions (rather than sliding), apply lipstick. Start on the bottom lip and then press your lips together; whatever doesn’t pass over to the top, touch up.
Dab gently with tissue, and then use a clear gloss if you want a “shiny” look!
Now, onto eyeshadow…my favorite (I wear this more often than lipstick).
You can always opt to do a smoky eye; we love it, it’s our fall-back eyeshadow technique, but we add some warmth for Valentine’s Day. I usually opt for a purple or dark rose hue to “perk” up my lids, and then dab a shimmery, complimentary color (pink or lavender) into the inner-corners of my eyelids. Follow with a line of liquid eyeliner and mascara, voila! I’m ready.
Well, not entirely. My hair I usually do a combination of loose waves and a half-up style for Valentine’s Day. This way, whether we go to a romantic dinner for two or just a casual date-night game of mini-golf, I still have the right look.
