The Purest, Affordable Mineral Makeup: Premium
About two years ago, the fad of bareMinerals swept the female population by storm. My interest was immediately piqued – a makeup that actually won’t clog your pores? Count me in!
When I first got it, I loved it. Powder makeup is so easy to use. A little goes a long way, but you have to make sure that your face lotion is set by at least ten minutes, or else your face looks cakey. The eyeshadow was great, plus it doubled for an eyeliner.
But my acne wasn’t going away. In truth, that was the ultimate goal I wanted by buying that expensive makeup ($25 for a little jar? Rip-off). I mean, I wasn’t having horrible break-outs, but consistently I always had 3-5 pimples of some sort. It was just downright annoying. Not only that, but my face often felt tight, dry, and always mildly itchy – and, if I began to sweat, my face was bare, the foundation turning into white liquid on my face. I was about to cross off powder mineral makeup from my list for good! If you want to know what’s found in your grocery store mineral makeup, click here!
So after one and a half years of dedication towards bareMinerals, I began a search online for the next best makeup. And what did I discover? bareMinerals, who claimed that they’re makeup was “bare” of any chemicals and 100% natural, actually had bismuth oxychloride in their “pure” minerals!
I changed my search term to “bismuth free mineral makeup” and one of the first choices was Premium Minerals. I did some research, looked at other sites, and what I found was actually life saving – or, at least, bank saving. Not only was Premium Minerals totally clean of chemicals, the prices were amazing! For $10 less than the bareMineral starter kit, you get 30g jar of Foundation (in so many colors, with varying undertones and shades; I got Neutral Medium), 10g jar cover up (my choice, pale green corrector), 10g jar Bronzer (Sun Kissed), 20g jar finishing powder (Oil Away, which absorbs oil), a 10g of blush (Dusty Rose Glow) and two 10g jars anywhere/eyeshadow colors. Yeah, it doesn’t come with brushes, but that is a full supply, not just a sampler (which they have for way less).
What I think is really awesome is that you can buy samples for under $2 of a foundation to see if it’s the right color for you, or you can get a sampler pack FREE with any order. And my first guess was right on target. I bought the full kit and it arrived before the week was over, and I fell in love. The makeup was smoother than bareMinerals, just as light, and the cover up concealed my acne perfectly. Plus, the eyeshadow was ridiculously pretty (I got a black with green shimmer, black with red shimmer, white diamond and obsidian as extras).
If you don’t want to buy a whole jar full, you can purchase refill bags of 16g for less than the price of a bareMinerals 10g! A container of eyeshadow without a kit is less than $7, too, which makes it all affordable enough to go a little crazy with (which, I admit, I did; I could not control myself). Also, take a look around the site, because they sometimes have discounts available.
They have so many options for affordable prices, I felt like I hit the jackpot. I think I may just be a Premium Minerals girl for a very long time – unless they come out with a free makeup where you just point a little computer at your face and, voila! You’re gorgeous.
I can dream, can’t I?
