True Blood: The Raunchy Thrill with a Sexy Bite

3 September 2009 by Allison | | No Comment

Blood, sex, and gorgeous men – sound familiar? It should! It’s a little BIG something called True Blood.

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse, psychic) Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton, vampire)

Back in September 2008, we first witnessed this original HBO TV show premiere. No one knew what to expect – even I didn’t and I’ve read every single book in the Sookie Stackhouse series for the past 4 years. They are a blend of vampires, were-wolves, shifters, witches, and so, so much more that has been unraveled in the past 7 novels.

There are several differences between the books and the TV show, such as minor characters turning into major ones with their own plot lines. In the novels, Sookie is the only character we actually follow. In the show, we have Sookie and Bill, but also the stories of Tara, Jason, and Sam are major plots to make it multi-dimensional.

Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse, Sookie's brother)

Personally, I love both! Anna Paquin plays the blonde telepathic protagonist, Sookie Stackhouse, while Stephen Moyer plays her boyfriend, vampire Bill Compton. Their love is instantaneous, because Sookie is constantly bombarded by peoples’ thoughts due to her psychic ability; with vampires, she can’t hear anything, and Bill was the first she ever met.

We also have a major vampire, Eric Northman, the sexy blond Viking who owns the nightclub, Fangtasia. He is enthralled by Sookie for her uniqueness, causing tension between Bill, Sookie, and Eric.

Sookie’s brother Jason is played by Ryan Kwanten. He is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l eye candy with a ripped chest, which is constantly exposed because he appears to be slightly sexaholic. I can’t wait for the next couple seasons to see what will happen to him – his story is painful, ranging from addiction to a stint with the Fellowship of the Sun, a radical anti-vampire religion.

Well, on September 13, we will have True Blood’s Season 2 Finale! I’m sad, but excited, to see what happens – so far, the town is in chaos, with orgies and mayhem. Even my boyfriend can’t stop watching it with me; it’s just that good and interesting. I’m hoping I will get him to enjoy the next vampire show, The Vampire Diaries, premiering on Sept 24. That show is based off of the teen vampire series by L.J. Smith, under the same name. (Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris is adult-oriented and great for older readers, while the Vampire Diaries are teen high school drama mixed with gorgeous vampires. Yummy. Oh, and it’s about 12 years older than the Twilight series, and just reprinted in 2009.)

Check out all these hot actors and actresses in True Blood, on Sundays at 9PM on HBO. The last one for the 2009 year is on September 13, so don’t miss it! If you need a fix in-between seasons, pick up the books, they are highly entertaining and even better than the show.

I found this website called TrueBloodEpisode that has every episode of True Blood, ever. I think I just found my new hobby…
