What Color to Dye Your Hair for Cool Skin Tones

27 August 2009 by Allison | | 5 Comments

Cool Skin Tones can go PlatinumIf you’re looking at the colors for cool skin tones, you must have tried to test: hold something blue or orange next to your clean face, and see which looks best. Or see if your veins show blue rather than green from under your skin.

You can find a list of H3RS approved hair products here.

For the first suggestion, your natural hair color should be bluish black, dark brown, golden blonde, or medium ash blonde. Your skin is pale with pink undertones, medium with pink/golden, very dark brown (African American/Latinas), or olive. Your eyes must be very dark brown, hazel, or dark blue/grey blue. Look for dye boxes with the word ASH on it, as well as blue, smoke, or moon. These will make your features stand out beautifully. Blue/red shades work perfectly such as cherry, ruby, garnet, or burgundy. Colors to avoid? Gold, yellow, red, or bronze – these warm tones will do nothing for your complexion except make it look drab and lifeless. Christina can go Black or Blonde with Cool Tone

If your eyes are blue or green with cool skin tones, use shades with the words “ash” or “cool”, from a sandy blonde to a beige, or brunette without any red undertones, such as burgundy or plum.

For hazel eyes, choose a nice medium brunette with golden highlights. If you’re a natural blonde with cool skin tones, you can go platinum or even ash blonde, and any shade of red you desire. Nice, huh? Seems like the cool skin tones have the most versatility.

I’m not sure if I have a cool skin tone… how do i know for sure? It sounds right though

It says in the article that you take something orange and something blue and hold it up to your face. Whichever one looks best with your complexion – orange is for warm skin tones, blue is for cool skin tones. :) Hope this helps!
